Stipendium Hungaricum

Stipendium Hungaricum is Hungary's main fully funded government scholarship. For 2026-2027, the official notice stated that the deadline was 15 January 2026 at 2 p.m. Central European Time, and benefits include tuition-free education, monthly stipend, accommodation contribution, medical insurance and student ID.

Required documents

• Submit also to the sending partner if required.
• Wait for nomination.
• Complete university selection.
• Accept the scholarship if selected.

Usual timeline

• Start preparing: August to October.
• Application opens: usually November.
• Contact sending partner: November to December.
• Deadline: usually January.
• Sending partner nomination: February to March.
• University evaluation: spring.
• Results: June or July.
• Visa and accommodation: July to August.
• Start: September.
• Payment: after arrival, enrolment and scholarship agreement.
