Stipendium Hungaricum
Stipendium Hungaricum is Hungary's main fully funded government scholarship. For 2026-2027, the official notice stated that the deadline was 15 January 2026 at 2 p.m. Central European Time, and benefits include tuition-free education, monthly stipend, accommodation contribution, medical insurance and student ID.
Required documents
- Online application form.
- Passport or national ID.
- Motivation letter.
- Academic transcripts.
- Degree certificate or expected graduation certificate.
- Language certificate.
- Medical certificate, if required by the call.
- Portfolio or audio portfolio for arts/music programmes, if applicable.
- Research plan for doctoral applicants.
- Recommendation letters for PhD applicants.
- Proof of citizenship.
- Any documents required by the sending partner.
- Translations if documents are not in the accepted language.

- Study fields vary by sending partner country.
- Applicants must check the country list and available programmes.
- Applicants must also comply with their home country's sending partner rules.
- Some countries have additional nomination procedures.
- Not open to every nationality automatically.

- Contact the sending partner in your country.
- Register in the DreamApply system.
- Upload required documents.
- Submit also to the sending partner if required.
- Wait for nomination.
- Complete university selection.
- Accept the scholarship if selected.
Usual timeline
- Start preparing: August to October.
- Application opens: usually November.
- Contact sending partner: November to December.
- Deadline: usually January.
- Sending partner nomination: February to March.
- University evaluation: spring.
- Results: June or July.
- Visa and accommodation: July to August.
- Start: September.
- Payment: after arrival, enrolment and scholarship agreement.
