Erasmus+ Exchange Funding
Erasmus+ exchange grants support students already enrolled at a university who want to study or train abroad. The European Commission states there is no central application form and students should contact their university's international or Erasmus+ office.
Required documents
- Home university exchange application.
- Passport or ID.
- Transcript of records.
- CV or motivation statement.
- Learning agreement.
- Acceptance from host university.
- Grant agreement.
- Bank details.
- Insurance proof.
- Online language assessment, if required.
- Arrival and departure certificates.
- Final transcript after mobility.
Eligible nationalities
- Students enrolled at participating universities.
- Nationality is usually less important than enrolment status.
- International students can often apply if enrolled at an eligible university.
- Restrictions may apply for mobility to the student's country of origin.
- Exchange must be approved by home and host institutions.
How to apply
- Contact the home university international office.
- Apply for exchange placement.
- Get nominated to a partner university.
- Apply to host university.
- Sign learning agreement.
- Sign Erasmus+ grant agreement.
- Complete mobility and submit final documents.
Usual timeline
- Start preparing: 9 to 12 months before exchange.
- University exchange applications: often autumn or winter for the following academic year.
- Nomination: several months before mobility.
- Grant agreement: before departure.
- Start:
- August/September for autumn semester.
- January/February for spring semester.
- Payment: often partly before mobility and partly after final documents.
