Scholarships for Lebanese Students 2027/2028

Last updated: July 2026

Lebanese students can apply for several strong scholarship routes in Europe, and some opportunities in Asia depending on annual country lists. The most relevant options include Stipendium Hungaricum, Erasmus Mundus, DAAD, MAECI Italy, AECID Spain, Slovakia Government Scholarships, Eiffel France and MEXT Japan.

Because most 2027/2028 calls are not yet published, this article uses the latest official eligibility evidence available and highlights where students should verify the new cycle.

Best scholarships for Lebanese students

1. Stipendium Hungaricum, Hungary

Lebanon is strongly covered under Stipendium Hungaricum. The latest official partner information listed Lebanon as eligible for full-degree bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s and doctoral studies in any academic field, as well as partial study options.

This makes Hungary one of the best options for Lebanese students seeking funded study in Europe.

2. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters

Erasmus Mundus is open to excellent students worldwide, including Lebanese students. The scholarship can cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa and living allowance.

This is especially relevant for Lebanese applicants in:

3. DAAD scholarships, Germany

DAAD is one of the most important routes for Lebanese students who want to study in Germany. DAAD EPOS is especially relevant for applicants from developing and newly industrialised countries with at least two years of professional experience.

Lebanese students with experience in NGOs, engineering, public health, education, public administration, economics, environment or development should check DAAD EPOS carefully.

4. MAECI scholarships, Italy

Lebanon appears in the official eligible country list for the Italian Government MAECI scholarship. MAECI can support master’s, PhD, research, AFAM arts programmes and Italian language or culture courses, depending on the call.

Italy is also attractive for Lebanese students because of its relatively moderate tuition and regional aid options.

5. AECID Africa-Med scholarships, Spain

Lebanon was included in the latest AECID Africa-Med Master call. The call supported official in-person master’s study in Spain, and applicants needed master’s admission before applying.

This is a good option for Lebanese students interested in Spain, development, international relations, governance or Mediterranean cooperation.

6. Slovakia Government Scholarships

The Slovak Embassy in Beirut published information stating that Slovak Government Scholarships for 2026/2027 were available for students from Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria for bachelor’s, master’s and PhD studies.

Lebanese students should check whether Lebanon remains included in the 2027/2028 call.

7. Slovakia Talent Scholarship

The Slovakia Talent Scholarship is open to international students worldwide and can support selected bachelor’s, combined bachelor-master and master’s studies.

This may be useful as a lower-cost EU option.

8. Eiffel Scholarship, France

Eiffel is open to foreign students nominated by French institutions for master’s and PhD studies. It provides an allowance and support services, but students cannot apply directly and tuition is not covered by the scholarship itself.

Lebanese students with strong French or English academic profiles should consider France, especially in public policy, law, economics, engineering and ecological transition.

9. MEXT Scholarship, Japan

MEXT requires nationality of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan, and applications are usually submitted through the responsible Japanese embassy or consulate.

Lebanese students should check the Japanese Embassy in Lebanon for the annual MEXT call.

Note on GKS Korea

GKS is based on NIIED-designated country lists each year. NIIED states that applicants must hold citizenship of eligible designated countries. Lebanese students should check the annual GKS guidelines and the Korean Embassy route before promoting GKS as confirmed for a specific year.
