Scholarships for Egyptian Students 2027/2028
Egyptian students have many scholarship routes in Europe and Asia. The strongest options include Stipendium Hungaricum, Erasmus Mundus, DAAD, MAECI Italy, AECID Spain, France Eiffel and Japan MEXT. Some Korean GKS opportunities may also be available depending on the annual NIIED country list and embassy announcements.
This article focuses on scholarships that are either officially open worldwide or have recent evidence of accepting Egyptian nationality.
Best scholarships for Egyptian students
1. Stipendium Hungaricum, Hungary
Egypt is strongly covered under Stipendium Hungaricum. The latest official partner information listed Egypt as eligible for full-degree bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s and doctoral studies in any academic field, as well as partial study options.
This makes Hungary one of the best fully funded routes for Egyptian students.
2. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters
Erasmus Mundus is open to excellent students worldwide, including Egyptian students. The scholarship can cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa and living allowance.
Egyptian students should consider Erasmus Mundus for:
- Engineering
- Water and environment
- Public health
- Education
- Data science
- Development
- Agriculture
- Energy
- Public policy
- Business and economics
3. DAAD scholarships, Germany
DAAD is one of the strongest routes for Egyptian students seeking study or research in Germany. DAAD EPOS is especially relevant for applicants from developing and newly industrialised countries with at least two years of professional experience.
Egyptian applicants with experience in engineering, development, water, public health, education, economics, energy, agriculture or environment should check DAAD EPOS and other DAAD programmes.
4. MAECI scholarships, Italy
Egypt appears in the official eligible country list for the Italian Government MAECI scholarship. MAECI can support master’s, PhD, research, AFAM arts programmes and Italian language or culture courses, depending on the annual call.
Italy can be practical for Egyptian students because of its moderate tuition and regional aid opportunities.
5. AECID Africa-Med scholarships, Spain
Egypt was included in the latest AECID Africa-Med Master call. The programme supported official in-person master’s study in Spain, and applicants needed admission to an eligible Spanish master’s.
This is useful for Egyptian students interested in Mediterranean cooperation, public policy, development, governance and Spanish universities.
6. Eiffel Scholarship, France
Eiffel is open to foreign students nominated by French higher education institutions at master’s and PhD level. It provides an allowance and support services, but tuition is not covered.
Egyptian students with strong academic records should consider Eiffel for engineering, ecological transition, economics, management, law, political science, health and digital fields.
7. MEXT Scholarship, Japan
MEXT requires applicants to have the nationality of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan, and applications are generally submitted through the responsible Japanese embassy or consulate.
Egyptian students interested in Japan should monitor the Japanese Embassy in Egypt for MEXT calls. MEXT is strong for engineering, robotics, disaster risk reduction, environment, materials science and technology.
8. Slovakia Talent Scholarship
The Slovakia Talent Scholarship is open to international students worldwide and can support selected bachelor’s, combined bachelor-master and master’s studies.
Egyptian students looking for lower-cost EU study routes can consider Slovakia as a backup.
Note on GKS Korea
GKS is based on NIIED-designated country lists and annual embassy or university quotas. NIIED states that applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED-designated countries. Egyptian students should confirm the latest GKS Egypt route before treating it as a confirmed option for 2027.
